Summer Workshop Series

July 11th – Comtemporary

Rachel Korting

With an earnest dedication to her art, Rachel moved from Windsor to Toronto upon her acceptance into The Conteur Academy’s Professional Training Program, under the direction of Eryn Waltman. The program has allowed her to train under industry professionals including Ryan Lee, Colleen Snell, Dani Matte, Natasha Poon Woo, Kelly Shaw, Julia Cratchley and more. She has since performed in Toronto’s Fever After Dark and Choreographer’s Ball, as well as the In Situ Multi Arts Festival. Eager to further develop and establish a career in contemporary performance, Rachel is driven by an honest desire to explore movement that fulfills both her mind and body.
July 18th – Ballet

Shannon Barban

Ms. Barban’s passion for dance allowed her to train with the National Ballet School of Canada and The Quinte Ballet School in Belleville. This gave way to dance opportunities throughout the US and in Russia, Denmark and Germany. She is experienced in the Cecchetti technique and holds a Teachers certificate with RAD. She continues to teach summer intensive‘s at St. Clair College and choreographing for competitive dance teams. Recently, she obtained her certification in Pilates Matwork and Barre and is passionate about sharing this raining to dancers as a means to support body awareness, muscle development, flexibility, alignment, balance and to reduce the risk of injury.

July 25th – Jazz Fusion

Melissa Williams

Melissa Williams is one of the most innovative director/choreographers working in the entertainment industry today. Born in Amhersburg, Melissa is recognized for her stylized, athletic choreography. With credits spanning the globe, Melissa has worked with some of the most established artists, actors and directors in the industry. Keeping her finger on the pulse Melissa continues to push the envelope in every direction of her creativity, and looks forward to continuing with further defining her creativity.

August 1st – Hip Hop

Rob Loebach

Loebz has been an active member in the break
scene for the past 13 years. Flow, Foundation, Character & Musicality best describe his dance style, but definitely credits his style & growth to his crew members in ill at will as well as mentors Puzzles of Supernaturalz and Albino Zebrahs Crew. Loebz has actively competed all over North America and worked with such names as RBC, Caesars Windsor, and Toyota/Lexus. He is firm believer in Poe One's quote – Each One Teach One.

August 8th – Tap

Shawn Byfield

As a GEMINI AWARD™ nominated performer and a sought-after dance choreographer, coach and entrepreneur, Shawn Byfield’s unique perspective is enjoyed by thousands who dance, train and mentor with him every year. As a motivating coach, presenter and lifelong student Shawn believes in providing absolutely the most positive and fun learning environment. He continues to encourage our next generation of performers and business leaders to confidently follow their passion.

August 15th – Contemporary

Carmen Leardi

Currently based in Toronto, Carmen is in her final year at Randolph College for the Performing Arts where she is completing a triple threat diploma in dancing, acting and singing. Carmen’s most recent credits include dancing in Operations (1945-2006): Movements at Nuit Blanche Toronto with the Boundary Conditions/Performance Assembly, and acting and co-movement directing in RCPA’s More Light , dir. Philip Mckee. Carmen began her dance training at Rivertown Dance Academy (then, The Catz Meow Dance Education Centre) and was a member of the competitive team and faculty for many seasons. She is thrilled to be coming back home to teach and see faces, new and old, in the studio!
